Update: Foot Nipple!

And we have a new winner in the category of "Superfluous nipple in the most unusual place."

From the Dermatology Online Journal, Volume 12 Issue 4:

A 22-year-old woman sought medical care for a lesion in the plantar region of her left foot, a well-formed nipple surrounded by areola and hair. Microscopic examination of the dermis showed hair follicles, eccrine glands, and sebaceous glands. Fat tissue was noted at the base of the lesion. Clinical and histopathologic findings were consistent with the diagnosis of supernumerary breast tissue, also known as pseudomamma. To our knowledge, this is the first report of supernumerary breast tissue on the foot.

That is definitely not a mole. According to the case study, there was no change in the nipple during pregnancy (i.e. no milk leakage into her socks -- bet THAT wouldn't have smelled nice!).

But I'm still curious about the ticklish part.

P.S. In a previous post, I mentioned that "Mamma Erratica," a term that was used to describe superfluous nipples in an old medical text, was a pretty cool nickname.

In this recent publication, they used the term "pseudomamma" (false breast), which is almost as cool. Kids! Study your Latin! It's the wave of the future! Nolite te bastardes carborundorum!

As a point of linguistic precision...

Mamma Erratica would be wandering breast.

Psuedo Pappila, or Pappila Erratica, would be the term for nipple

Thanks for the clarification -- the term was used by Lyle in 1897, and he included it in quotation marks attributing it to someone named Barth.

So "Hey Barth! Your latin sucks!"

Still, it's better than mine. As is yours, Pecunium.

So who holds the record for the most nipples? I think I have a chance. There's nothing on the internet about more than one extra nipple. Think people could pay me for nipple transplants so they can have one too? So many questions.

I actually posted a story about someone who claims to have known a guy with nine nipples, so he's got you beat there! (Not that I have photographic evidence of it...)

What I really want to know is how many your little boy has! (Mine only has the two. Too bad!)

totally puts a new twist on *rub my feet, will ya*

...on the other hand it also boosts the chance that said foot rub might occur.

I just had a new one pop up...I'm at 9 now. They keep popping up during pregnancy...I guess we're tied then.

There may be nothing on the internet today about a 3rd nipple but I know for a fact that my Uncle has a 3rd nipple. I saw it when I was around 7 years old and he seldom took his shirt of because he was very embarrassed about it. My Grandmother, Mother and Aunts all know that he does have a 3rd nipple. It is fact that this may seem as an abnormality but I am certain there is more than one person with a 3rd nipple out there.
